Getting Started

Welcome to Embark Reader! Here's how to get started with the app.

Reading Papers

There are two main ways to read new arxiv papers:

  • Use the 'Daily Papers' tab and choose a date
  • Use the 'RSS Papers' tab for the current feed
What's the difference between Daily Papers and RSS?

The arXiv API doesn't provide a direct way to replicate the papers shown on arxiv.org/list/.../recent, so we use two different methods to help you stay current.

RSS Feed provides a dump of recent submissions, but it can be empty on weekends and sometimes updates before Daily Papers since they use different APIs.

Daily Papers uses arXiv's search API by date. However, the dates don't always match up perfectly with the arxiv.org/list/recent page—a paper might be submitted a few days before it appears on the "recent" page.

Until arXiv provides an API to list papers by actual release date, you may need to check both tabs and go back a few days on Daily Papers to catch everything.

Adding Papers

You can add papers to your library in several ways:

  • Search for papers directly within the app
  • Browse daily papers from arXiv categories you follow
  • Import papers from your browser tabs
  • Paste an arXiv URL or ID

Organizing Your Library

Keep your research organized with:

  • Folders — Group related papers together
  • Stars — Mark important papers for quick access
